Are SUP holidays suitable for me?
If you like active lifestyle, exploring nature and discovering new places than our SUP holiday tours are made for you. Sup holidays will help you stay active and fit even during your time off. A moderate physical activity in pure natural surroundings will help you relax and recharge. Beside paddling and sightseeing you will also indulge in local cuisine and stay at comfortable boutique hotels.
Can I join if I don't know how to SUP?
Sure! If you haven’t tried stand up paddling before and you want to join one of our tours as a stand up paddler (not a non-paddling companion) you should take a short sup introductory course at the first sup location of the tour. By our experience this course would suffice for most of the people with average motor skills to gain the basic stand up paddling techniques such as paddling straight, turning and stopping the board on still and moving water.
What if my partner doesn't SUP?
No problem. Adult non-supping companions are also welcome to accompany you on our tours. In this case please let us know in advance so we can arrange extra activities for your partner while we are on the water.
Can I bring children?
Your chidren are welcome. It would be a pitty not to share such a wonderful experience with your family. However, a child who is not able to stand up paddle on her own board must be accompanied by a parent/an adult who will accompany her on land while other tour members will be on the water. Please consider the average planned paddling time per day being 1.5 to 2 hours. In any case drop us an e-mail and we will arrange the best possible solution for your family.
What costs are included in the tour price?
The tour fee includes:
- All transfers along the route
- All meals on the tour (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- Hotel accommodation (double bed)
- A SUP guide
- Stand up paddle gear (board, paddle, leash)
Not included in the tour fee:
- Additional single room fee (40 EUR per night)
- Spending money for drinks and souvenirs
- Fees for optional, additional trips or attractions within the tour
- Airplane tickets
What if I am a vegetarian or have special dietary requirements?
Just let us know about your special requirements at the time of booking your tour and we will arrange everything needed.
Which kind of SUP gear do you use?
The SUP gear you get here includes a paddle board, a paddle and a safety leash. On our tours, we use touring inflatable boards and solid race boards. If you intend to bring your own stand up paddle equipment, please let us know in advance.
What should I bring?
We recommend you bring your own neoprene shoes, a sun-protective shirt (lycra), a hat or a cap and hydration gear (camelbak). Sunglasses, a sun screen and a beach towel will also come in handy. If you intend on taking your camera on the water, consider using a water-proof model or a water-proof container. Upon demand, Sup Slovenia Discovery can arrange rent or purchase neoprene shoes and lycra shirts.
When is the best time to come?
The best conditions for standup paddling and sightseeing in Slovenia and Croatia are from April to October and our tours are scheduled in a way that takes the full advantage of this season. However, the weather can be unpredictable, so we can’t guarantee the perfect conditions during our tours.
If you are an experienced paddler and don’t mind the colder air and water temperatures you can also join us on colder months for a SUPer Weekend tour, Custom Tour or a New Year tour. Winter on water can be magical.
How do I get there?

Do you pick me up and drop me off at the airport?
Airport transfers from Ljubljana airport to your hotel in Ljubljana and from Zadar airport to your hotel in Zadar are included in the tour price. Same for departures. In case of tour ending in Venice the transfer from your hotel in Venice to Marco Polo or Treviso airport is included in the tour price. Transfers from and to other airports are not included in the tour price but we can help you arrange them.
How many people will be in the group?
The concept of our SUP holiday tours is “small and special”. So, in order to provide our best personal service to each guest, we limit the size of our groups to ten people.
What kind of information is provided before the tour?
Approximately one month prior to your departure you will receive a tour booklet including all essential information such as country descriptions, travel facts, day-by-day itinerary, sights and hotel information and a route map.
Can my SUP club custom design their own guided tour?
Sure. We can custom design a guided tour for your paddleboaring club or group of almost any size. Drop us an e-mail.
What if none of the tour dates suit me?
At any time of year we can create a custom tour for you or your group. Depending on your available time-frame and other preferences we will create the optimal experience.
Is it possible to get a group discount?
Sure. If you are bringing a group of five or more people drop us an e-mail prior to booking your tour.
How many hours of paddling per day can I expect?
On longer tours (8 days or more) we plan to paddle 2-3 hours per day. In the middle of the tour we take a rest day which can also be used for paddling if you wish. On shorter tours such as Super Weekend Tour we plan to paddle 4-5 hours per day. Please note that the actual paddling time per day may vary due to the weather and water conditions and paddling skills of participants. Paddling time on Custom Tours is completely up to you.
